This includes enhancing bus services, developing infrastructure, and ensuring safety for all users. Advocating for policies that support all lifestyles regardless of their access to a vehicle and making alternative transportation options more accessible and attractive are essential steps in creating a safer and more connected city.
Improving bike and pedestrian safety in Charlotte is essential for fostering a truly multimodal city. Key concerns include the lack of protected bike lanes, inadequate crosswalks, and limited lighting in high-traffic areas, which endanger vulnerable road users. Addressing these issues requires investments in infrastructure, such as building dedicated bike paths, widening sidewalks, and implementing traffic-calming measures. Advocacy for Vision Zero policies and equitable funding for non-car infrastructure will help create safer streets and encourage active transportation, benefiting all residents regardless of their mode of travel.
